A framework for mindfulness practice that includes four parts:
- Technique Set: You have to have at least one focus technique and if you have more than one you need to understand how the different techniques you use work together.
- Training Structure: Life practice (Formal and Informal), Retreat Practice, Get Support, Give Support. Together, these make up the Four Pillars of Practice. (See Finer Details below.)
- Happiness Goals: Aspects of happiness that you would like to improve through practice (these may broaden and deepen with time).
- Understanding the Mechanism: The ability to connect the dots (i.e., how developing mindfulness skills and using mindfulness strategies supports achieving your Happiness Goals).
