Harold Abilock is a co-founder and Manager of Unified Mindfulness LLC and UM-HUB LLC, where he serves as CFO. He is also the founder and Managing Director of ipOPTIMiz LLC, which provides intellectual property consulting services, and the founder and Managing Director of JapanLink Translations LLC, which specializes in the Japanese-English translation of Japanese patent applications and documents related to patent prosecution and cross-border patent litigation. Harold has a B.S. degree in computer engineering.

He began his meditation practice as a student of Zen in the early 1970s and studied Japanese philosophy and religion under Abe Maso at Doshisha University (Kyoto). Later, he lived in Asia, Africa, and Europe for 16 years (13 yrs in Japan) and in the early 1990s learned the Vipassanā practice of the Theravada tradition under Ajahn Buddhadasa (Wat Suan Mokh). He has been a student of Shinzen since the mid-1990s. Presently, he and his wife Jill live in Vermont with their two cats, Piti and Sukha.
