Term Stretch Up and Settle In
Definitions A phrase about posture that Shinzen frequently uses at the beginning and during his guided meditations. Reminds you that balancing alertness and relaxation in a posture helps deepen practice. Applies to any posture, including sitting, standing, lying down, and more. (If you’re practicing while standing still, for example, you’d stretch the upper body and then let everything hang from the central pillar. If you’re lying down, you can still slightly raise your arms and legs and then drop them, once again creating a global sense of relaxation.)
