Term Mastery
Definitions The fourth column on UM’s Happiness Grid, this happiness type refers to skillful action and behavior (i.e., actions or behaviors that are considered positive, good, beneficial, adaptive, etc.). As with all items on the Happiness Grid, this refers both to the impact of a practice and the impact of other factors such as learning activities, behavioral support, chance, and so forth. From the viewpoint of practice, you can use mindfulness skills and techniques to help you:
  1. Attain fun performance skills (e.g., improve your tennis game)
  2. Attain skills to help you succeed in life (e.g., improve your public speaking for your job)
  3. Make necessary behavior changes (e.g., eat differently) and/or follow your core values (e.g., developing character skills by using your words more carefully)
  4. Attain spontaneity (e.g., move, speak, and think with effortless grace)
