Term Self CARE
Definitions A way to remember the four strategies that can help you prevent integration challenges and/or integrate deep experience when you run into a challenge with that process. You may need to do one or more of these repeatedly for an extended period of time. They are:
  1. C—Create Positivity: Nurture positive habits of behavior, emotion, aspiration, thought, and situation (Heart BEATS) (i.e., strengthening a positive "activity" of self in the free space the "somethingness" of self once occupied).
  2. A—Ask for Help: Get support (such as from a trainer).
  3. R—Recycle the Reaction: Turn Toward and deconstruct unpleasant reactions with Foreground Equanimity, or Anchor Away and create some space from the experience to allow for Background Equanimity. Uncomfortable reactions to the deep experience could include flatline, disorientation, fear, hopelessness, loss of meaning, or anger.
  4. E—Enjoy the Pleasant: Selectively focus on pleasant rewards of the deep experience, such as rest, flow, bounce, spaciousness, and connectedness.
